Videos.

As an English teacher, I am a firm believer of the importance of consuming content created for and by English speakers. I have taken the work of categorizing some videos according to their utility regarding the learning of a second language. The first ones will be the pedagogical ones: YouTube channels focused solely on learning English. The second ones are the ones connected to exploring one's identity throgh the other language: channels made by Latinos that speak English. Finnaly, the third type of videos are related to fun activities: cultural binging, gossip, sports, etc.

I hope you enjoy the videos and seize this opportunity to learn English!

First type of videos: The educational ones.

Superholly is a great YouTube channel for those who want to focus on their ability to communicate effectively with English. She has a communicative approach to learning a language and is also aware of the cultural cues of Latinamerica and USA.

BBC Learning English is an excellent YouTube channel to learn grammar and vocabulary related to everyday life and abilities to communicate in a professional or academic environment. It is specially great because it has different levels of difficulty and they also incorporate literary works, news and real-life discussions.

Learn English with TV series is actually one of my favorite channels on the platform. It takes interesting excerpts from TV shows, movies or interviews and uses them to explain vocabulary, real-life communication and idioms (expressions only understood in their original language). It is very attractive for young learners since it combines English with mass media products.

Second type of videos: exploring one's identity.

FLAMA makes relatable content for Latinamerican communities, but they make it in English! You can have fun relating to the cultural, political and social content they make by practicing your English understanding abilities.

Pero Like is the Latin branch of the multimedia giant Buzzfeed. It focuses on Latin experiencies in the American environment while exploring Latin identity in a light, fun way. Check out this video to see if you match all the Latin characteristics!

Third type of videos: cultural binge.

FBE is a channel that focuses on getting reactions from different groups of people about social, cultural, Internet and political issues. Teens, elders, adults, YouTube personalities and even celebrities all react to different things. This is a great tool to explore what is most popular in today's digital world and to check the English language in its purest form: surprise.

Wisecrack focuses on doing analysis on movies, TV shows and Internet phenomena by recurring to great philosophers and sociologists. It is definitely designed for advanced English speakers, but if you are interested you can turn on the subtitles (in English!) and expand both your philosophical vocabulary and your thinking abilities.

Rhett and Link (the hosts of Good Mythical Morning) make very amusing content usually inspired by food, toys and everyday use objects. It's great for kids and young teenagers because it has amazing visuals and fun hosts.
